Sue is a ceramic artist whose work embraces emotions of trust, honesty, care, unconditional love and loyalty. Her work celebrates the relationships and bonds that we create with animals and with the natural world. It recognises the great contribution that animals play in our everyday lives as well as their mystery and their power. As each piece evolves, it evokes a sense of narrative giving the observer a story behind its existence. Some pieces endeavour to make you smile and others are there to remind us of lost cultures.

Most of the influences for her work comes from her long teaching career in Early Years and Special Needs education, along with the 18 years that she spent in Finland. Here she was surrounded by a strong sense of design and craft, abundant forest and fauna as well as extreme weather conditions!

Sue’s ceramic sculptures are made from textured clays. Her current collection is predominantly Raku fired. She enjoys the spontaneous process of Raku and the rich depth and texture that it imparts to her work. Sue has exhibited in London, and in several galleries throughout the UK.
